Dele Alli reacted on Twitter after scoring his first goal for Tottenham.
It was a day of individual jubilation for Tottenham Hotspur youngster Dele Alli, who opened the scoring with his first ever goal for the club in a 1-1 draw at Leicester City. However, the midfielder was understandably left frustrated by his side’s failure to hold on for three points.
The 19-year-old, who was signed from MK Dons in January but only joined up with the first-team squad in the summer, opened the scoring at the King Power Stadium before Riyad Mahrez hit back less than two minutes later to claim a point for the Foxes.
Thanks for all the messages! Delighted to get my first goal in the premier league 2day. frustrated we couldn't get the win, onto the next 1!— dele alli (@dele_alli36) August 22, 2015
Meanwhile, Harry Kane sent a message offering his congratulations to his Spurs team-mate. The club’s top scorer of last season had very few chances on the day but he will undoubtedly be delighted to see Alli following in his footsteps - ahead of what could prove to be a breakthrough campaign.
Disappointing feeling again. Worked so hard as a team to get our goal. Need to stay positive and keep working. Congrats @dele_alli36— Harry Kane (@hkane28) August 22, 2015
Spurs are left still seeking their first win of the season, having lost their opening fixture 1-0 away to Manchester United, before letting a 2-0 lead slip against Stoke City last weekend as the game finished in a 2-2 draw.
