It seems Celtic have a very talented young player on their hands.
Celtic may have played something akin to their B team when they took on Dundee United at the weekend, but there were still plenty of reasons for the Bhoys’ fans to be excited.
Not only did Ronny Deila’s side run out 3-1 winners courtesy of goals from Leigh Griffiths, Callum McGregor and an own-goal from Mark Durnan, but some of the club’s lesser lights also got the chance to impress.
Most notably among them was Saidy Janko – a 19-year-old Swiss right-back who arrived at Celtic Park – somewhat surprisingly – from Manchester United earlier this summer.
The surprise came because Janko is undeniably talented and had been impressing for United’s under-21 side both as a full-back and on the wing. But when Celtic brought him in it was clear they were getting a future star.
So it is beginning to prove, after Janko shone for Celtic on Saturday, impressing the club’s supporters and suggesting he has a huge future at the club.
Janko may have some way to go before he is playing regularly for Celtic’s first-team but the sheer number of matches they are likely to play this season means he will still get plenty of chances.
United fans who had been keeping a close eye on their under-21s knew exactly what Celtic were getting in Janko, and following his stellar outing against Tannadice, so do his new supporters.
