Celtic beat Dundee United 3-1 at Tannadice on Saturday afternoon.
Celtic continued their strong to the Scottish Premiership season with a 3-1 victory away at Dundee United on Saturday afternoon.
The Bhoys beat Malmo 3-2 in their Champions League play-off first leg clash, and with the second leg in Sweden coming up on Tuesday, manager Ronny Deila chose to rest a number of his first team stars for the trip to Dundee United.
Whilst the likes of Craig Gordon, Dedryck Boyata, Virgil van Dijk, Scott Brown, Nir Bitton and Stefan Johansen were left out, Celtic didn't miss a beat as they coasted to victory at Tannadice.
Leigh Griffiths got the ball rolling with a well taken finish, before Mark Durnan's own goal but Celtic 2-0 up before half time - but a penalty from Chris Erskine did pull one back for Dundee United.
Celtic sealed their win in the second half though, with Callum McGregor's deflected strike wrapping up all three points in the second half.
After the game, Celtic players reacted on Twitter, with both Leigh Griffiths and Anthony Stokes commenting on their victory. Both players praised the support from Celtic fans, whilst Griffiths looked ahead to the clash with Malmo in midweek, and Stokes commented on a rare 90 minutes having been left out of the side recently.
Here is how Griffiths and Stokes reacted on Twitter following Celtic's 3-1 victory over Dundee United on Saturday afternoon...
Another victory today, and another goal. Good start to the season so far but it's the HUGE 1 on Tuesday. Support was amazing as per— leigh griffiths (@Leighgriff09) August 22, 2015
Think that's my first 90 mins since the semi final last year, safe to say I needed it! Legs went last 15! Good win and a great atmosphere!— Anthony Stokes (@stoksey10) August 22, 2015
