Tim Sherwood has told the Aston VIlla official website that new signing Adama Traore showed what he was capable of against Crystal Palace today.
Villa slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Selhurst Park, as Scott Dann gave Palace the lead before Pape Souare diverted the ball into his own net to draw Villa level.
However, Palace managed to clinch the victory with a dramatic late winner, as new signing Bakary Sako struck in the 87th minute to claim all three points.
Villa will be disappointed given that it's now two defeats in a row, but one of the man positives to come out of the game was winger Traore.
The 19-year-old, who joined Villa from Barcelona last week, was handed a 20 minute cameo by Sherwood - and took his opportunity to show what he can do.
Traore displayed his pace and and direct dribbling, putting in the cross for Souare's own goal, and fans were certainly impressed with Traore's impact despite the defeat.
Speaking to the Aston Villa official website after the game, Sherwood admitted his delight with Traore's performance, noting that the player will get more opportunities when the time is right.
"You saw a young player who has no fear at all in Traore," said Sherwood. "He burst forward and lit it up today in a short period. I thought it was the right time to put him on. That's what he is capable of. We know what he possesses. Hopefully those Villa fans can see a lot more of him. I will make sure he gets the right opportunities at the right times," he added.
