NEC confirm Limbombe was left out of squad because of Leeds interest

The 21-year-old looks as though he is definitely a Leeds target.

NEC have confirmed Anthony Limbombe was left out of their matchday squad due to interest from Leeds United, according to the club's official website.

In an intriguing move, the Dutch club have pulled no punches and admitted the player has been affected by interest - specifically form Leeds.

There was no encryption, with NEC naming the Whites outright and going on to suggest Limbombe is 'insufficiently focused' following the transfer links.

NEC's statement translated as: "The Belgian footballer is some time in interest from Leeds United. It is for this reason [he is] insufficiently focused on his duties and responsibilities within the team and therefore has no place in the squad."

The 21-year-old is a left winger and United's interest in him therefore makes sense.

Leeds themselves have not commented on the interest as a club, with boss Uwe Rosler remaining professional and coy on specific names. But the fact NEC have mentioned the Championship side suggests the links are concrete.

Stuart Dallas has already been brought to Elland Road this term out wide but the Yorkshire side are in need of further strength in depth. Could Limbombe be on his way if he is as 'insufficiently focused' as NEC claim?

Meanwhile, back in the Championship, Leeds drew their Yorkshire derby with Sheffield Wednesday 1-1 on Saturday afternoon.
