Lazio make loan bid for Joel Campbell, still want Fabio Borini - report

The Serie A side are in the market for attacking reinforcements and are eyeing the Arsenal and Liverpool duo.

Gazzetta dello Sport have today claimed that Lazio have made an offer to take Arsenal fringe figure Joel Campbell on loan for the season.

The Costa Rica international has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium, with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck ahead of him in Arsene Wenger’s preferences.

As such, the former Villarreal loanee is widely expected to spend this term on a temporary stint elsewhere, even though Wenger has expressed his desire to keep the versatile star on the North London club’s books.

Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Lazio president Claudio Lotito has lodged a loan request for the Costa Rica international, and also remains keen on Liverpool’s Fabio Borini.

The former Parma and Roma attacker has had a torrid time of it at Anfield and has seen Brendan Rodgers sign a glut of new forwards this summer.

Lazio’s first choice number nine is Miroslav Klose, who is starting to feel his age at 37 and as such the Rome-based outfit are in need of reinforcements.

His deputy Keita Balde Diao scored the winner against Bayer Leverkusen in a Champions League qualifying fixture in midweek but his future with Stefano Pioli’s men has also been in doubt of late.
