Tottenham believe in their own quality, says Mousa Dembele

The midfielder also insists they will not be taking Leicester City lightly, given their impressive form.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele says he and the rest of the squad firmly believe in their own quality.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have endured a difficult start to the campaign, with a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United being followed up with a 2-2 draw at home to Stoke last weekend.

The draw against Mark Hughes’ side was particularly frustrating for them as they had led the game 2-0, and it has caused several to question whether they are good enough after a relatively quiet summer transfer window.

Dembele though, insists the squad believes in their quality and it is certainly good enough.

“We are Tottenham, we believe in our quality and we have a lot of quality here in this group,” he told

“In fact, the first half display against Stoke was better than a lot of games last season. That’s positive and it’s a shame it ended negatively.”

No underestimating in-form Leicester City

Next up for Spurs is Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester City side, who will provide a stern test given their current run of form.

While many were expecting the Italian’s reign to be a disastrous one, it has so far been anything but, with two wins out of two and a scintillating defeat of Sunderland on the opening day.

And Dembele insists they won’t underestimate them, suggesting that if they play as they did against Stoke they have a good chance of victory.

“Leicester have good individuals and as a team, they perform well,” added the midfielder.

“Of course, we don’t underestimate Leicester in any way. It won’t be easy but if we’re all 100 per cent we have a good chance. Leicester are in a good flow but if we play like we did against Stoke over the 90 minutes we’ll have a good chance against any team.”
