Rio Ferdinand praises this area of Slaven Bilic’s management of West Ham

Slaven Bilic has started his West Ham career impressively.

Speaking to the official West Ham website, Rio Ferdinand has praised Slaven Bilic’s work in the transfer market since being named head coach of the Hammers.

The former Hammers player said: “As West Ham manager, I think he has been really shrewd in the transfer market and has strengthened the squad. Dimitri Payet is a fantastic signing. He was the leading assist maker in France last season and has already looked good in the Premier League.”

Bilic has been in charge since the summer, and oversaw a major redevelopment of the side he inherited from Sam Allardyce.

The likes of Payet, Angelo Ogbonna and Pedro Obiang all arrived at the Boleyn Ground, and the first two have impressed in their Premier League appearances. Obiang has yet to impose himself, but he certainly appears to have all the talents need to become a force in English football.

The Croatian boss has also seen Mauro Zarate come back into the squad after being outcast last term, and the attacker has played well despite it appearing as he if had no future at the club.

The only area in which Bilic is lacking is his need to bring in a new striker, due to the ongoing injury issues with his squad.

It is hard to deny that the Hammers have completed some great business in this transfer window, and if another striker is brought in before the close of the window, Bilic will have started his West Ham career making all the right moves.
