The French midfielder has been full of praise for his Arsenal central midfield partner.
Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin has told the club’s official website that he loves playing alongside Santi Cazorla in the team’s boiler room and that he has a special relationship with the Spaniard.
The former Charlton loanee was given an opportunity in the Gunners first team halfway through last term and instantly impressed.
He has since signed a new long-term deal with the North London outfit and is an automatic first choice in Arsene Wenger’s starting XI these days.
Cazorla, who has become accustomed to playing wide or in an attacking role, has dropped deep to partner Coquelin over the last six months in a rounded pairing that has helped to propel Arsenal forward.
Coquelin has spoken out about playing alongside the former Malaga and Villarreal creative talent and admits that Cazorla is a special player.
“It is easy to play alongside Santi because he is such a great player,” Coquelin told the Arsenal official website.
“We had a good chemistry last season, but there are many great players at this club that we can all play with each other.
“That is the great thing about this squad; anyone can play and we can still get a result.
“Last season with Santi was something special because we got a lot of praise, but the most important thing is that no matter who plays, we can get the result.”
Arsenal released Abou Diaby in the summer but still have an array of options in the heart of their team, with Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta, Matthieu Flamini, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all eager to play centrally also.
The Gunners started this season with a disappointing 2-0 home defeat to West Ham but made amends away to Crystal Palace last weekend.
