Aston Villa media round-up: Michu targeted, Victor Moses approach expected

A selection of stories in the media involving Aston Villa in the last 24 hours.

Aston Villa are considering a move for former Swansea City hitman Michu, according to El Decano Deportivo.

The 29-year old spent last season on loan at Napoli but failed to impress sufficiently for the Italian side to make the deal permanent and now faces an uncertain future.

Tim Sherwood remains keen on Joleon Lescott - as reported by the Express - and Federico Fazio’s impending move to the Hawthorns could pave the way for the former Manchester City man to make the switch to Villa Park.

Fazio’s arrival will add to the signing of James Chester earlier this summer and will push Lescott even further down the Baggies pecking order.

The Telegraph reports that Victor Moses is a target for both Villa and Spurs, with Chelsea expecting an approach for the 24-year old before the window closes.

The Nigerian winger has failed to break into the Chelsea side since his move in 2012 and the signing of Pedro will further limit his first-team opportunities.

Meanwhile, Villa right-back Leandro Bacuna has signed a new deal keeping him at the club until 2020, as confirmed on the club’s official site.

The 24-year old has slowly emerged as the club’s first-choice since his arrival from Groningen in 2013 and has now secured his future.

Finally, Tim Sherwood has spoken of his love-hate relationship with promising midfielder Jack Grealish.

“I love him to death and I hate him at the same time! I want to nurture him to fulfil his full potential,” he said, in quotes published in the Daily Star.

“He did annoy me in the summer, but he annoyed himself. Hopefully the penny has dropped with him.

“Young kids make mistakes. But they come through it. He’s a one-off – and he’s a one-off on the pitch. He’s come through it and we need to move on.”
