Arsenal media round-up: Wenger hails significance of Bergkamp signing

A round up of news stories related to Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger has been quoted by the Daily Express suggesting that Dennis Bergkamp is the club’s best signing of the modern era.

The former Dutch striker is one of the most talented players to have ever graced the Gunners during Wenger’s lengthy reign in charge.

Wenger has revealed the added factor that he feels Bergkamp brought to an already talented group of players.

“He had a bunch of English players, British players who were exceptional as well. He brought creativity to this group of very strong players,” he said.

The Daily Mirror is one of many sources to have reported the news that Arsenal youngster Wellington Silva has agreed a deal to play for Bolton on loan in the Championship for the coming season.

The 22-year-old forward played for Almeria in Spain on loan last season, but they were relegated from the top flight of Spanish football.

The paper reports that it’s astonishingly, the fifth time that the player has been sent out on loan since he moved to Arsenal.

The Independent has reported that a deceased Arsenal fan has had a joke at the expense of former Gunners midfielder Alexander Hleb.

The fan had a memorial stone dedicated to him outside the Emirates Stadium, with the words ‘Hleb – Never rated him’ written beneath his name.
