Report: Leigh Griffiths targeted for Norwich City swap deal involving Gary Hooper

Norwich City are reportedly targeting Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths.

According to the Daily Mirror, Norwich City are pursuing a deal for Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths - and are ready to offer Gary Hooper in exchange.

The Canaries are looking to add a new striker to help them stay in the Premier League, and it seems that manager Alex Neil - former boss of Hamilton Academical - is targeting a swoop for Griffiths.

The 25-year-old hitman has established himself as Celtic's leading striker in 2015, finishing last season with 20 goals as well as kicking off this term with six goals in nine games.

Now, after an up-and-down period with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Griffiths could be in line for a return to English football, with Norwich poised to make an intriguing offer.

The Mirror report that Norwich are set to offer Gary Hooper in exchange for Griffiths, with the former Celtic star out of favour at Carrow Road.

Hooper, 27, hit 82 goals in 138 games for Celtic before joining Norwich in 2013, though he hasn't enjoyed the same amount of success since his return to England.

Whether Celtic would accept Hooper as a makeweight in a deal for Griffiths remains to be seen, but he was certainly a fan favourite during his time in Glasgow.

Meanwhile, Griffiths' exploits in Scotland may have convinced him that he is ready to make the return to England now, and whilst that would be a blow to Ronny Deila, the return of Hooper would certainly help ease the wound.
