Report: Everton reportedly interested in signing Bayern Munich defender Dante

Everton are supposedly keen on signing Dante from Bayern Munich.

As reported by the Liverpool Echo, Everton are eyeing a move for Dante of Bayern Munich, as Roberto Martinez plans defensive signings.

The Brazilian international is said to be available for transfer, and the Toffees are planning a move for him, along with Bundesliga sides Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach.

It is stated that he has a price tag of roughly £6 million, and Martinez believes the experienced 31-year-old would be a great option for his back-line, especially as a potential replacement should John Stones depart to Chelsea.

The Brazilian international, a holder of 14 caps, has been part of the record-setting Bayern side of recent years. He has won the treble of Bundesliga, German Cup and Champions League, and was part of a defence which set a clean sheet record in the 2012/13 campaign.

He is a commanding centre-back, and is also able to perform in a left-sided position, and is regarded for his defensive abilities. However, he is a liability when on the ball, and his exit from Bayern seems to be coming about due to his inability to deal with pressure when in possession.

Whilst Martinez favours ball-playing centre-backs, he may overlook Dante’s main weakness so he can sign a truly talented and commanding defender to fix Everton’s back-line weaknesses.
