Ogbonna was announced as one of Slaven Bilic’s first summer signings at the Hammers earlier in the season and he’s confident that he’s dealing with the challenge of playing in the Premier League effectively.
It can be difficult for any player, especially a defender, coming into English football from a foreign division because the football is so high paced and physical.
“I like my team and the staff and I love how everybody is giving me good advice about the Premier League and about life in England. For me it’s easy,” he told whufc.com.
“I am grateful for the support the fans have given me so far and I will continue to do my best for the fans starting with the game at home on Saturday.”
Support vital for new signings
West Ham deserve credit for making sure that a talented new player has plenty of support around him as he embarks on life in a new division and a new country.
The Hammers are doing everything they can to ensure that their new defender settles quickly, which makes sense because that gives him a better chance of being effective in big games for the club.
There are some areas of his game he needs to work on but he’s being settled into a culture, which is based around help and advice, which suggests that he won’t hesitate to ask for a word of advice if he feels he needs to.
