Rangers were two goals to the good inside the first half of the Petrofac Cup tie with Ayr United, and they managed to see out their victory.
Mark Warburton’s side are now in the quarter final draw of the competition, thanks to goals from Nicky Clark inside the opening 15 minutes, and Barrie McKay just before half time.
The victory ensures Warburton continues his 100% victory record since his appointment as manager, with five wins in five.
There were a few changes made to the starting line up for the tie with Ayr, with Tottenham youngsters Dominic Ball and Nathan Oduwa making their full debuts for the side following the completion of their loan signings last week.
Oduwa took to Twitter after the game to express his pleasure at securing the 2-0 victory, in which he continued to show his skilled footwork and impressive attacking flair.
Goalkeeper Wes Foderingham continued his role between the sticks, and although he has come under some criticism this season, he was strong against Ayr, keeping his second clean sheet of the season. He praised the fans following the victory, ensuring the five in five record continues for the Ibrox club.
