Manchester United have missed out on Nicolas Otamendi to rivals Manchester City.
The Argentine's arrival at The Etihad was confirmed via City's official website earlier today, signing a five-year deal.
Otamendi had been strongly tipped to sign for United earlier this summer, as reported Talksport, although the Manchester Evening News reported in late July the Red Devils wouldn't be bidding for the centre-back.

City hope he will succeed where Eliaquim Mangala failed to establish himself as a credible partner for captain Vincent Kompany, and strengthen their title push.
Manchester United meanwhile are yet to sign a centre-back this summer, and since Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic have just signed Marcos Rojo to play in the position, although manager Louis van Gaal has of late converted Daley Blind to play there.
He is the second big signing United have missed out on in as many days, with Barcelona attacker Pedro flying to Chelsea to undergo a medical.
The news has not pleased United fans; here is a look at how they reacted via Twitter...
