Is West Ham-linked Anders Lindegaard an upgrade for the Hammers?

West Ham are interested in signing Anders Lindegaard, according to reports.

According to the Daily Mail, West Ham are interested in signing Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard on loan.

Lindegaard will be allowed to leave on a free transfer but West Ham are looking for an initial short term fix to cover the absence of Adrian who is now suspended after being sent off against Leicester City on Saturday.

The 31-year-old Danish international has been a peripheral figure since signing from Aalesund in 2010 making just 29 appearances and he could look favourably towards a move to Upton Park, where he will look to make an impression in Adrian's absence.

The Hammers have discussed the possibility of signing former England international Robert Green from QPR but his wages demands are believed to be significantly higher than that of Lindegaard.

Amid speculation linking the Red Devils 'keeper with a move to Upton Park, HITC Sport compares his stats to those of Adrian during his time with the Hammers.

Adrián West Ham 0.25 1.27 3.73 2.95 94 47.97 98.26 0.65 60 5,370

Although Lindegaard has not featured anywhere near as regularly for Manchester United as Adrian has during his time at West Ham United, the comparisons from his appearances are still there to be made.

However, in six of the eight key areas assessed, it is Adrian who emerges superior.

The Hammers number '1' has averaged more clean sheets and saves per game, while he also boasts more saves per goals conceded. He also offers the greater security when claiming crosses in the box and when coming off his line to intercept an opponent.

In fact, his potential team-mate only offers a marginal advantage in terms of his distribution accuracy, while he has conceded fewer goals per game - which is perhaps only a consequence of playing for Manchester United over the years.

To conclude, Lindegaard would prove a decent option for the Hammers during Adrian's spell on the sidelines, but he is unlikely to displace the Spanish shot-stopper when he makes his return from suspension.
