Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Danny Murphy suggested that fans of his old side should accept a fifth or sixth place finish right now, when he responded to a question on talkSPORT.
Murphy was asked a direct question by co-host Max Rushden over whether he felt that fifth or sixth place finishes are all that the club’s fans can look forward to in the Premier League and he took one word to reply.
“Should Spurs fans just give up and take fifth or sixth now? ‘Yep’,” replied Murphy on talkSPORT.
Is fifth or sixth realistic?
Tottenham were early moves in the transfer market as they brought in new defenders t support an already talented midfield.
However, they haven’t matched additions in that area with additions up front, which leaves Harry Kane under massive pressure.
Kane is still searching for his first Premier League goal of the campaign and is under pressure to stay fit, unless the club can sign some extra attacking talent before the end of the current transfer window.
Spurs need to get a win on the board and start building some momentum, because if they allow a big gap to develop from their rivals in the race for the top four, it’s a gap they will always be chasing to make back.
