The Frenchman has been a big hit so far and Noble says they were crying out for him before he arrived.
The French midfielder was brought in from Marseille this summer and has made an impressive start to his West Ham career, with a top performance in his debut against the Gunners being followed by his first goal last weekend.
And Noble was full of praise for the summer recruit, saying he is the type of player the squad has been crying out for.
“I think we’ve been crying out for a player like Dimitri Payet for a long time. He can score and create goals, he’s a top quality player and we need to keep him fit,” he told whufc.com.
The number 10 position is certainly one West Ham have failed to fill over an extended period, with former manager Sam Allardyce having not looking for a player in that position given the style of football he adopted.
He did though use Stewart Downing in the role last season to great success, with the midfielder’s performances being enough to earn him an England recall. That success in the role made his exit even more surprising, but also clearly demonstrated the success a talented player in that position could enjoy.
And Payet certainly seems to be that player thus far, with his performances up to now having been more than impressive and certainly suggesting he is likely to be a big hit at Upton Park this season.
