Chelsea are set to win the race to sign Pedro from Barcelona, report Spanish newspaper AS.
The Spanish international is available for transfer, and it is being reported he is in London to undergo a medical.
Pedro had been widely tipped to join Manchester United, with chief executive Ed Woodward flying out to Barcelona earlier this week in an attempt to close a deal.
Losing out on him would be United's own fault, having waited so long to push for his signature, with a £22 million release clause in his contract.
He had been expected to sign for United last week after scoring the winning goal for Barcelona in the UEFA Super Cup Final against Sevilla.
The Sunday World report that United had decided against signing the forward, but that just looks like a late attempt to save face after being beaten to the punch by Chelsea.
It leaves the Red Devils increasingly reliant on Wayne Rooney up front, who is yet to score a goal this season, while time is running out with just a fortnight to go before the transfer window closes.
