According to talkSPORT, Leeds United are set to miss out on Bastia winger Floyd Ayite – with Rennes in pole position to land the Togo international.
Reports suggest that Elland Road chief Uwe Rosler had targeted the midfielder as a top summer target earlier in the summer, but he may now be forced to look elsewhere in aid of bolstering his squad.
The 26-year-old, who scored six goals in 30 Ligue 1 appearances last season, is believed to be on the verge of completing the switch across to ninth-placed Rennes.
Ayite has already netted on twice in two appearances this term, while fashioning one key passes for his Bastia team-mates. Having hit the target from 67% of his attempts, he currently ranks as his club's most accurate attacker.
Last season, he was able to create 28 chances - including two assists - for the French top-flight side, while completing 44% of his take ons and 76% of his attempted passes.
Having spent the entirety of his career to date in France and it has been suggested that a move away from the country was not on his agenda - thus ruling out a move to Elland Road.
