According to the Daily Mirror, Aston Villa will continue to pursue West Bromwich Albion defender Joleon Lescott - and the player is tempted by the move.
Lescott, 33, left Manchester City last summer upon the expiration of his contract at the Etihad Stadium, and despite being a former Wolverhampton Wanderers star, Lescott joined their fierce rivals West Bromwich Albion.
The veteran centre back played a key role in the Baggies side last season, but his future has now been thrown into doubt this summer.
West Brom have not only snapped up centre back James Chester from Hull City, but reports from the Birmingham Mail suggest that they are also pursuing a deal for Tottenham defender Federico Fazio.
Having been left on the bench against Watford last weekend, Lescott could now be sliding down the pecking order at The Hawthorns - prompting interest in his signature.
The Mirror report that, whilst Aston Villa have had one bid rejected for Lescott already this summer, manager Tim Sherwood will continue to pursue Lescott.
It's also stated that Lescott is a boyhood Villa fan, and would therefore be tempted to make the move to Villa Park, if West Brom allow him to.
VIlla allowed veteran centre back Ron Vlaar to leave the club earlier this summer, and Sherwood will therefore be looking to bring in an experienced defender - and Lescott certainly fits the bill, but tempting West Brom into a sale may be difficult right now.
