Johnny Russell frustrated as Derby continue search for first win

Derby County player Johnny Russell grabbed a goal for the club in a 1-1 draw last night.

Derby County star Johnny Russell has told the club’s official website that he finds it frustrating that the club have played so well yet not taken the three points in their last two games.

Derby secured a 1-1 draw last night against Middlesbrough with Russell bagging the equaliser for the Rams, as the club continue their search for a first competitive win under the guidance of new manager Paul Clement.

“I’m delighted to help out at the end to salvage a point, but that’s two games in a row now where we have absolutely dominated and not got what we deserved,” he told

“It’s frustrating, but that’s not going to happen every week. Teams are not going to score goals like that every week and whilst it is frustrating at the moment, we will make our own luck.”

Hard work and perseverance

The only method Derby can take as they look for that win is to continue to work hard and persevere in terms of the way they’re playing their football.

Russell clearly feels that the messages coming across from the manager aren’t too drastic and are along simple plans, which the players should be able to adhere to.

It was always going to take the team a little bit of time to settle into the new methods of the new manager, but they’ve now had plenty of time to understand the way he wants them to play and hopefully, Derby will get that first competitive win this Friday away at Birmingham.
