Joey Barton updates his transfer status, amid Nottingham Forest interest

Joey Barton is wanted by Nottingham Forest, following the collapse of his move to West Ham.

Joey Barton has taken to Twitter to update fans on his transfer status, with a report in the Sun claiming he is set to sign for Nottingham Forest.

The controversial midfielder has admitted that a deal has yet to be struck to sign for a new side, despite having held talks with a number of clubs over the past few weeks.

He wants to make sure it is the ‘right project’ before agreeing a deal, although a switch to Championship side Nottingham Forest looks to be the most likely right now.

The Sun claimed that the former Newcastle and QPR midfielder has held talks with Forest chairman Fawaz Al-Hasawi, having seen a move to West Ham United fall through at the last moment.

The Daily Mail reported that the Hammers had pulled out of an impending deal for Barton after fans protested the signing, and it is now unlikely that a Premier League side will move for the 32-year-old.

Forest talks are still progressing, and even though Barton has yet to confirm an agreement with any side, it should be expected that a move to the City Ground will come about if Barton continues to remain a free agent for much longer.
