Report: FC Porto made late move for Newcastle’s Remy Cabella

Remy Cabella is reportedly on his way out of Newcastle United.

FC Porto made a late move to sign Remy Cabella from Newcastle United, according to Foot Mercato.

It has been reported by the French news outlet that the Portuguese club made contact with the attacking midfielder’s representatives in order to sign him.

However, according to Foot Mercato, Porto were too late in their attempt to recruit the France international, who is allegedly on his way to Marseille.

It has been reported that the 25-year-old will move to the Ligue 1 outfit on loan for this season as part of a deal which will see Florian Thauvin join Newcastle.

Porto are one of the biggest clubs in Portugal and will feature in the group stage of the Champions League this season, having finished second in the Portuguese Primeira Liga during the 2015-16 campaign.

Cabella joined Newcastle from French club Montpellier in the summer of 2014, but he struggled to make a huge impact last season.

The Frenchman could show only glimpses of his talent during the 2014-15 campaign, scoring one goal and creating 37 chances in 31 Premier League matches.
