Rangers have been linked with making a move for Newcastle midfielder Vuckic.
Vuckic spent a successful spell at Ibrox last season, but Mark Warburton has told the Daily Mail that he would not be an option for another signing this summer.
He said: “No. That [signing Vuckic] wouldn’t be an option for us. We’ll hopefully add one more this week and then we’ll be almost there.”
Warburton’s comments may disappoint Rangers fans, especially considering the reports in the Chronicle yesterday claiming that the Light Blues wanted to bring him back to Ibrox.
The Slovenian midfielder, who netted nine goals last term whilst on loan at Ibrox, is a fan favourite at Rangers, and it would have been no surprise to see the club move for him earlier in the summer.
However, considering the signings Warburton has made in recent weeks, with the arrival of Nathan Oduwa especially, there is no real need for Vuckic.
He would not be a guaranteed starter, and the 22-year-old wants to play consistent football so he can ensure he is an international selection.
There are other gaps in the squad that need fixing before Vuckic could be considered a viable option, and Warburton has admitted that he wants to add one more player this week - although it is not going to be Vuckic.
