Wayne Rooney is still searching for his first Manchester United goal of the season, after drawing another blank against Club Brugge.
The United and England captain was withdrawn on 80 minutes, and saw his replacement Marouane Fellaini score the final goal in the 3-1 win.
He was marginally improved on his first two games of the season, but United fans want to see him bossing games like the centre forward he is supposed to be.
The forward is under pressure to perform with Robin van Persie sold to Fenerbahce, and it is unclear how much Louis van Gaal really believes in second choice striker Javier Hernandez.
Rooney's touch was largely poor, although there was one particularly neat backheel which set up Memphis Depay for a chance in the second half, only for the Dutchman to miss the chance for his hat-trick.
The pressure is on the striker to start producing, and the longer his slow start to the season continues the more questions will emerge.
United fans remain hopeful he will get back to his best form, but the reaction on twitter to his display showed disapproval with his performance...
Rooney's form so far this season is alarming, made just one meaningful contribution for d 80+mins he was on the pitch #MUFC— Benedict MUFC (@IamDjAxel) August 18, 2015
Rooney needs get more involved in the box if he's gonna be a 20 goal a season striker #mufc— Stathis Pananos (@spananos) August 18, 2015
Good result. Could've been more tho. Rooney needs to be playing behind a striker. Isn't happening for him yet but keep the faith. #MUFC— Ben watson (@BenAlbert86) August 18, 2015
