HITC Sport understands Fulham have made a new £5 million bid for Brighton and Hove Albion defender Lewis Dunk.
Fulham are finally close to sealing the signing of Brighton's Lewis Dunk after upping their offer for the defender to £5 million, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Fulham have been chasing Dunk all summer with Kit Symons targeting him as the man to solve the club's defensive problems.
Fulham had the second worst defensive record in the Championship last season and Symons is keen to shore up his backline as he looks to mount a bid for promotion this season.
Dunk is regarded as one of the best young defenders in the country and a number of Premier League sides have been keeping tabs on the player.
Brighton have rejected several offers from Fulham for Dunk this summer as they look to keep hold of the 23-year-old, but Symons has refused to give up on his top target.
Dunk was on the bench for Brighton's win over Fulham last weekend due to the speculation over his future, but Fulham are hopeful their latest bid will persuade Brighton to sell the defender.
