Derby County manager Paul Clement has backed talented youngster Jamie Hanson to excel.

Derby County manager Paul Clement has backed Jamie Hanson to have a big impact on the team this season, as he spoke to the Derby Telegraph.

Hanson has found himself propelled into the spotlight at the club, with Clement still searching for his best combination of players to use in midfield and attack.

The boss feels Hanson has the skillset to be a big player for the club this season, with the Rams still searching for their first competitive win under their new manager.

“I've got full confidence in Jamie. He has had a terrific pre-season, he is a very good professional, never a moment's bother, takes on board instructions well and has a lot of ability,” Clement told the Derby Telegraph.

“He handles the ball well, has a good range of passing, is athletic, very determined and aggressive. He has great potential.”

Clement needs to find a settled team

Clement needs to try and find a settled team as quickly as possible because it’s difficult for Derby to get any consistency if he’s always looking to make changes.

In the shape of Will Hughes, he’s not been left with any choice and Hanson has been presented with an opportunity that he needs to make the most of.

It’s the job of the player to make the decision as difficult as possible for his manager, when someone like Hughes comes back into the selection equation.

It’s the job of the manager to give his players the best possible chance to perform consistently and provide a platform that allows all players to progress.
