The newly-promoted side lost their second successive Premier League game, as they went down 1-0 to the Reds at Anfield.
Belgium international striker Christian Benteke’s goal in the 26th minute proved to be the difference between Liverpool and Bournemouth on Merseyside.
Over the course of the 90 minutes at Anfield, the Cherries had 45% of the possession, took 13 shots of which just two were on target and earned eight corners.
Hosts Liverpool had 55% of the possession, took 18 shots of which two were on target and earned six corners.
Following Bournemouth’s defeat, midfielder Pugh and defender Cook took to Twitter to express their disappointment.
Lads were superb tonight and deserved more. Big game against West Ham coming up #Believe— Marc Pugh (@MarcPugh7) August 17, 2015
Absolutely gutted with the result, tough to take but we go again.. Fans were very very good.— Steve Cook (@SteveCook28) August 17, 2015
One suspects that attacker Lee Tomlin was disappointed with the final result as well, but he was pleased to have made his debut in the Premier League.
The 26-year-old, who joined Bournemouth from Championship outfit Middlesbrough earlier this month, came on as a substitute against Liverpool at Anfield just past the hour mark.
What a dream it is for me to make my premier league debut tonight worked so hard to get to this level I'm not gonna stop now— Lee Tomlin (@Leetomlin10) August 17, 2015
Former Bournemouth defender Ian Harte was watching the game, and he was impressed with the performance of Eddie Howe’s side.
