Coutinho not being part of the Brazil squad could mean a refreshed Brazilian ahead of a huge trip to Manchester United.
One only needs to look at when this particular international break is. With the 23-year-old now taking on ever more importance to the Liverpool side, he is going to be fresh after the break. The Reds' engagement after that, just the short matter of a trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United.
Brendan Rodgers said on Liverpool's website: “I spoke to him at length on it and of course he’s disappointed, but straight away his only focus is on Liverpool – that was his thought, to continue to work here.
“He’s a really humble boy and he’s a really proud man for his country. So I’m sure that he’ll pick up the form that he’s shown here over the last 18 months and it won’t be too long before he’s back in it.”
So, the man who is looked upon as the catalyst for the Liverpool side now has a big point to prove, as if scoring a worldie on the opening day of the season wasn't enough of a point!
But not only is there something for Coutinho to aim for by playing his role in trying to get the Reds to bounce back from the disappointment of last season, but to try and force his way back into the national side.
The trip to Old Trafford could prove to be a pivotal moment during the season even at a very early stage as the Reds will look to send out some kind of message in order to show they are capable of returning to the top four in the Premier League.
