West Ham United media round-up: Prolific striker linked, goalkeeper to sign

A selection of the latest news concerning West Ham United.

West Ham target Championship striker

According to the Express and Star, West Ham have joined Aston Villa in the race to sign Benik Afobe from Wolves. Despite only signing for the Championship club in January, Afobe has caught the eye of Slaven Bilic, who is looking to bring in another striker in the midst of an injury crisis.

Former Arsenal trainee Afobe, 22, has netted 15 goals in 23 games for Kenny Jackett’s Wolves side.

Rob Green set to sign with the Hammers

West Ham are one step close to agreeing a deal with Rob Green, as QPR look to be signing Alex Smithies as his replacement.

As reported by London24, Smithies has been undergoing a medical at Loftus Road today, as QPR look to sign a replacement for Green.

It is stated that the Hammers are ready to push up their interest in Green now that Adrian is suspended following his red card in the weekend’s loss to Leicester City.

Club set to appeal Adrian red card

Adrian was sent off in the loss to Leicester, and a report in the Standard claims that Bilic is ready to appeal the decision this week.

The club management believe that any challenge on Jamie Vardy was unintentional, and they are set to submit footage going against referee Anthony Taylor’s decision.
