Former Premier League midfielder Robbie Savage suggested one question applies to Tottenham for this season, as he appeared on air for BBC Radio 5Live following the club’s 2-2 draw against Stoke over the weekend.
Spurs started that game in great shape, quickly getting into a 2-0 lead, before Mark Hughes’ team came back into the match to secure a 2-2 draw.
It was a performance, which would have left plenty of Tottenham fans frustrated, with Savage suggesting one question, which he feels applies to the whole club and their strategy moving forward.
“You can’t allow that to happen – I just think is this going to be another season of the same old Tottenham?” he told BBC Radio 5Live.
Why Tottenham’s performance was surprising
In terms of Tottenham letting a two goal lead slip, it was surprising because of the players Mauricio Pochettino brought into the club earlier in the summer.
He did some good work to improve his defensive options, but the back four let their discipline slip, which was very surprising.
Hopefully, Spurs can quickly refocus and go into their next game with extra determination and the discipline needed to ensure the club can secure their first win of the season.
The encouraging thing from the manager’s point of view is that other players stepped up, with Harry Kane still searching for his first goal of the season, but the defence needs to provide the stability for the rest of the team to grow and develop.
