Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew explained live on Sky Sports before the game against Arsenal, what he feeks is the biggest positive created by Yohan Cabaye’s arrival at the club.
Palace surprised plenty when they confirmed a deal for the talented French midfielder earlier in the summer, as Pardew started creating a top quality squad at Selhurst Park.
Cabaye is a player who knows Pardew well and creates a number of positives for the Eagles, but the manager feels he’s been influential in one area more than any other.
“I think the biggest impact he’s had is forcing everyone else to step up and improve their quality – Credit has to go to the owners for making the deal happen,” he told Sky Sports.
Cabaye is a key player for Palace
If Crystal Palace are going to consolidate in the Premier League and improve on their league position from last year, they need Cabaye to step up and be consistent.
He can be influential and have a big impact on the team in a number of different areas, using his quality to inspire others and his experience to try and help the younger players who are looking to make an impression at the moment.
Hopefully he’ll be able to stay fit and can quickly learn about the key strengths and weaknesses of the team, adapting and finding a way to be effective in a basic system under Pardew based on what he offers as a player.
There will be plenty of sides kicking themselves for not being able to sign him.
