No wins but Paul Clement explains his positive mood

Derby County West Stand

Derby County manager Paul Clement has explained why he's happy with his side's latest performance.

Derby County manager Paul Clement told the Derby Telegraph why he’s in a positive mood, as the side continue their search for a first win under his guidance.

Derby shared a 1-1 draw with Charlton in front of their own fans, as they look to improve from a position of 15th place in the table.

Clement feels that the side’s performance against the Addicks was a positive one and he wants to see continuity over the next few weeks.

“Their goal has come from a big slice of luck but I'm pleased with the performance and there were lots of positives and some very good individual performances as well,” he told the Derby Telegraph.

“Collectively, we looked sound and could have come away with a winner – I think we will play worse this season and win, I'm sure of it, but if we keep playing like that, we are going to be fine.”

Need for a winning mentality to develop

Despite how positive the performances are under Clement, the side isn’t translating that into points.

A winning mentality is needed to boost the confidence and belief running through the team, which is vital over the course of a very long and busy season.

It’s still far too early into the Championship to be able to cast judgements over Derby and Clement, but they need to get on the right track quickly because of how tight and competitive the Championship proved to be last season and how likely it is to be that way again.
