One of the main reasons why Newcastle United suffered a defeat to Swansea City away from home on Saturday afternoon was the superb performance of Jefferson Montero.
The Ecuador international winger was the star of the show at the Liberty Stadium, as the Welsh outfit won the Premier League encounter 2-0.
The former Villarreal attacker was a menace to the Newcastle defenders during the 77 minutes he was on the pitch.
Montero took one shot, had a pass accuracy of 78%, created four chances, put in five crosses, attempted 11 dribbles, and made one interception and two blocks.
The 25-year-old’s pace and tricks were too much for the Newcastle players to handle, and one suspects that Steve McClaren’s side were relieved when he was substituted 13 minutes from full time.
Newcastle are a big club and are gracious in defeat, as they showed when Montero was getting substituted.
