Alloa Athletic defender Colin Hamilton has told The Herald of his outrage after Rangers winger Nathan Oduwa showboated on Sunday.
Rangers coasted to a convincing 5-1 victory over Alloa on Sunday, with Oduwa coming on as a substitute just days after signing a season-long loan deal from Tottenham.
The talented winger, 19, has been signed to inject some pace into the Rangers side - and he did just that with his cameo against Alloa, as he celebrated above.
Oduwa entertained the Rangers fans with a series of flicks and tricks, bamboozling the Alloa defence in the process as they simply couldn't handle the youngster's skills.
However, whilst Rangers fans were stunned with Oduwa's display, it didn't go down quite so well with everybody. Alloa defender Colin Hamilton was one of Oduwa's victims, and he has told The Herald that Oduwa was showing off, enraging the Alloa players in the process.
"What was there, a minute to go? Was there really any need for it? I can’t tell any player how to play or not play, it’s his decision," said Hamilton.
"But he’s come up here and he’s trying to show off, trying to make a name for himself. I didn’t even get the chance to speak to him after the game as he just walked off but I’m sure there are other centre backs and left backs in the league that if he does try that against them, they maybe won’t let him away with it the same way," he added.
Oduwa has immediately caused a stir in Scotland, and Rangers boss Mark Warburton will be delighted with his impact - even if he is being criticised for 'showing off'.
Rangers fans will now want to see more of the same from Oduwa, and the message will certainly be that if you can produce such stunning skill, then continue to use it - especially if defences can't deal with it.
Meanwhile, Spurs will be watching on with delight as Oduwa displays the confidence, arguably arrogance, to try the showboating. The fact that he is able to pull it off is an added bonus for Tottenham, who want to see their young winger excelling in Scotland.
So far, so good.
