A selection of the latest stories in the media involving Liverpool Football Club this Monday morning.
Jose Enrique and Mario Balotelli are among those who are seemingly unwanted at Anfield, and Rodgers said comments made by Enrique suggesting that he had been alienated by the Reds boss were 'irrelevant'.
Rodgers is quoted, saying: “It’s not something that I’m overly concerned on. Any manager will tell you, if a player’s playing, he’ll be super happy – if they’re not, they won’t be.
“What never changes for me is I always offer every player the respect whether they’re playing in the team or not playing."
Tonight sees the Reds play their opening home game of the Premier League season when they take on Bournemouth at Anfield, as they look to build on their winning start from Stoke City last week.
Both of the players didn't start at the Britannia Stadium because they were still building up their fitness after reporting for pre-season training later than most of the other squad members after their international commitments.
Rodgers has been talking up the versatility of Emre Can and says he can play in any of the midfield positions, with some suggesting he could be the main man to pay in the holding midfield role for Liverpool this season.
The Liverpool Echo quotes Rodgers, saying: "Whatever role he's asked to play he has this inbuilt brain for football that allows him to adjust and adapt.
"But when I met him I asked him his preferred position, where he sees himself playing and that was as a controlling midfield player and that's where I've always felt he'll be an outstanding talent for us."
