The young Newcastle United striker has another chance to impress this evening.
The 19-year-old striker signed for Steve McClaren’s side from Northampton Town earlier this month, and went on to make his debut for the under-21s in a recent clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
But now he is reportedly set to feature at home, giving more Newcastle fans the chance to see just who the club have signed for an undisclosed fee.
Toney scored 13 goals and provided six assists in 60 matches for Northampton and he is being tipped to have a very bright future in the game.
He becomes the latest in an impressive line of young Newcastle strikers hoping to ultimately break through at St James’ Park, including Adam Armstrong and Tom Heardman, and despite not getting off the mark last week he now has the chance to score his first goal in his new club’s colours at Whitley Park.
Newcastle have impressed with their summer spending to date, not only signing Toney but also bringing in Chancel Mbemba, Georginio Wijnaldum and Aleksandar Mitrovic.
