Tim Sherwood’s side weren’t able to back up a win against Bournemouth, as they fell to defeat the hands of Manchester United towards the back end of last week.
It was a scrappy 1-0 win for United, with Dublin frustrated by the lack of threat he noticed in Aston Villa’s attack during the game.
“Yeah they are (lacking an edge up front) and I just don’t know where the goals are going to come from – Gabby’s not going to score you goals because he’s not an out and out goalscorer and then you’re going to struggle,” he told talkSPORT.
Gestede needs to get fit
Summer signing Rudy Gestede needs to work very hard on getting to a point where he can start games.
At the moment, he’s being used off of the bench because he’s behind in terms of his general fitness levels.
The sooner Tim Sherwood can use him from the start, the sooner Aston Villa will have the option of being able to play with a more direct style.
Pace out wide
It’s also important that Aston Villa look to get pace out wide, utilising space down the flanks.
One of the key strengths of this current Aston Villa squad is the pace they have in wide areas and it’s something which will also help the side get service into the front men in terms of crosses and cutbacks.
