Report: Norwich City plot bid for Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle

Crystal Palace’s Dwight Gayle looks set to leave the club this summer.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, Norwich City are to table a bid for Crystal Palace star Dwight Gayle with the striker wishing to remain in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Palace this summer after seemingly falling out of favour with Eagles boss Alan Pardew.

A number of clubs are said to be interested in his services, though no more than Championship side Bristol City who widely reported to be offering up to £8 million in order to sign him.

However, as reported by the Daily Mail, Gayle isn’t keen on a switch to Ashton Gate and instead wants to continue plying his trade in the Premier League, prompting Norwich to prepare their move.

Quiet summer:

Since earning promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs, the Canaries have been relatively quiet on the transfer front with only a handful of new additions.

Yet, their chances of staying up haven’t exactly been dented as there is plenty of quality in their squad and a togetherness on the pitch, evident during their 3-1 victory a Sunderland on Saturday.

Potential good signing:

Still, Gayle would offer Alex Neil’s side a different attacking threat as his pace and trickery added to the power of Cameron Jerome and the diligence of Lewis Grabban would give the side plenty of options.

The former Peterborough man has netted 12 Premier League goals in 48 appearances over the past two seasons, with a number of his strikes proving to be match-winners.
