Tottenham fans speak out about Mauricio Pochettino and Daniel Levy after Stoke draw

Tottenham Hotspur Seats

Some fans of Tottenham Hotspur are clearly not happy with their club's current situation.

Tottenham Hotspur have not had the start to the new season that either the club or their fans would have wanted.

An opening day defeat to Manchester United was followed by a 2-2 draw at home to Stoke City after Mauricio Pochettino’s side had initially gone 2-0 up, and the club’s supporters were quick to air their grievances in comments posted on a recent HITC Sport article.

One point from two matches is simply not good enough and Tottenham’s failure to sufficiently strengthen in key areas is under the spotlight once more.

Pochettino and chairman Daniel Levy did a good job strengthening their back-line with three swift additions but they are yet to solve their problems in central midfield, while even with Clinton N’Jie’s recent arrival there remains an over-reliance on Harry Kane up front.

Following Tottenham’s latest match a number of interesting points were made by the fans, some suggesting Pochettino is to blame, some pointing the finger at Levy and some unhappy with both.

Levy Handbag Man said: ‘When will we learn to do our transfer business BEFORE the season starts? Come on Levy get it sorted because most honest Spurs fans think it is crap to try and save a few quid by doing business late and it always backfires with a poor start to the season. Even a monkey learns from its mistakes.’

Geoff said: ‘I am sure some of the players are upset but the truth is Pochettino does not have a clue how to close a game down. Bring on lamella? Don't make me laugh.’

IAH said: ‘YES!!!!!! I totally agree with you. This one is on Poch. Lamela should be sold because he is not suited to the Premier league. He will destroy teams in Spain and Italy but not in England...no way. He can’t even complete two passes nor run past a defender. This is serious. Secondly, I don't trust Bentaleb in the middle. He brings the tempo down. Just my opinion.’

Holsten said: ‘Poch is clueless; been saying it from day one. His tactics are boring and negative, the inverted winger thing is beyond a joke now. The lack of pace is alarming…taking off your striker for a defensive midfielder to close out Stoke at home is a joke. Dembele is not a right winger…Eric dier is not a centre mid…just play people in their natural positions if not play the youngsters. Give Alli a game in centre midfield...give Pritchard or Yedlin a go on the wing.’

Tony said: ‘Levy should have bought another striker before the season started that's what should have happened; we have one and according to MP he's not fit. GREAT management from Daniel Levy and co.’

Rob said: ‘Mauricio Pochettino seems to be a better physical fitness coach than strategy tactician. To bring on Lamela was the absolute worst choice possible. He surely could not have believed for one minute that Lamela was the best choice to replace Kane. Was Pochettino giving up? We have far more skilful youngsters on the payroll. Young, maybe, but they are not afraid. Did MP not call up a striker just in case? I am offended that he thinks that we have no talented strikers at our disposal. You must do better Mauricio. I can only speak for myself when I say there have been a few heart-breaking seasons recently and my tolerance level is very low at the moment. You must do better Mauricio.’
