Swansea trio and Garry Monk react on Twitter to Newcastle win

Swansea City defeated Newcastle United 2-0 at the Liberty Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday.

Swansea City stars Bafetimbi Gomis, Jefferson Montero and Federico Fernandez have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to the team’s win against Newcastle United at home on Saturday afternoon.

The Swans defeated the Magpies 2-0 at the Liberty Stadium in their second Premier League game of the season.

The Welsh outfit headed into the encounter on the back of a 2-2 draw with English champions Chelsea away from home at Stamford Bridge.

Garry Monk’s side were favourites to pick up all three points against Newcastle on Saturday, and they did so without facing too much problem.

Jonjo Shelvey set up Gomis to round goalkeeper Tim Krul and slot into an empty net to give Swansea the lead as early as the ninth minute.

Newcastle went down to 10 men shortly before the half-time interval when defender Daryl Janmaat was sent off for persistently fouling Montero, who provided the cross for Andre Ayew to head home the hosts’ second and final goal of the afternoon seven minutes into the second half.

Over the course of the 90 minutes, Swansea had as much as 66% of the possession, took 19 shots of which six were on target and earned four corners.

Following the game, Gomis, Montero, Fernandez and Monk took to Twitter to revel in their triumph.
