Michael Owen does not see Liverpool being troubled by Bournemouth.

Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen believes his former club will not be troubled by Bournemouth on Monday Night Football, he has told BetVictor.

He is so confident that in fact he states Reds will keep a clean sheet, explaining that he did not see enough from the Cherries in their Premier League opener a week ago.

Owen said: “I expect the Reds to improve on an already impressive record of clean sheets in the PL this year (10).

“If Bournemouth couldn’t break down Villa at Dean Court I don’t expect them to hurt Liverpool at Anfield.”

Bournemouth were promoted as champions from the Championship last season, playing attractive football which saw them score more goals than any other side.

This saw them predicted by many to see off an Aston Villa side in transition on the opening day of the season, and their confidence could have been affected by the 1-0 loss.

They actually played Liverpool last season in the Capital One Cup, and the Reds emerged 3-1 winners.

Brendan Rodgers’ side won their first match of the season 1-0 away to Stoke City, and will be looking to build on that in their opening game at Anfield of the 2015/16 campaign. Anything less than a win will be seen as a disappointment.
