The centre-back has been linked with a loan move away from the Etihad Stadium but, after his stellar display on Sunday afternoon, fans aren't so sure...
According to AS, however, Mangala will soon be on his way to Valencia as part of a deal that sees Nicolas Otamendi move to the Etihad Stadium.
The 24-year-old will reportedly join the La Liga side on loan - yet his statistics from the Premier League season so far show the defender has just begun to find his feet at City.
As Opta stats show, Mangala has won as many headers as any Manchester City player during their first two Premier League games of the season. He has also won three tackles, five interceptions and made 14 clearances against both West Brom and Chelsea.
And, against the Blues, both Mangala and Bacary Sagna were heavily praised by City fans on Twitter - as Manuel Pellegrini's men simply ran riot against Jose Mourinho's Chelsea.
Why, then, would Manchester City even dream of loaning the centre-back out now that he has finally found form? That's exactly what supporters wanted to know on social media after the game...
Two clean sheets on the bounce surely we can't be swapping out Mangala for Otamendi!?!? Him & Vinny finally look solid! #MCFC— Kev R (@KevR_7) August 16, 2015
Mangala and sagna solid again. Finally pellegrini has learnt we can't play 4-4-2 and is playing our best formation #MCFC— Daniel Rushton (@DanielRushton) August 16, 2015
