Tottenham fans react to Erik Lamela's weekend performance v Stoke

Tottenham fans were unhappy with Erik Lamela's weekend display.

It is fair to say Erik Lamela took a lot of criticism from Tottenham supporters reacting to the club's 2-2 draw against Stoke City. And not for the first time.

Spurs squandered a two-goal advantage on Saturday when goals from Marko Arnautovic and Mame Biram Diouf saw the Potters claim an unlikely point in North London after going 2-0 down.

The Argentine international proved completely ineffectual coming off the substitutes' bench in the second half, much to the frustration of onlooking Lilywhites supporters. The 23-year-old is widely considered as one of the club's biggest disappointments from the 2013 summer window - the period immediately following the big-money sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid - and his display at White Hart Lane did little to help his cause.

Lamela's high-profile move from Serie A giants AS Roma was greeted with tremendous excitement by supporters of Spurs and the Premier League, alike. However, he has ultimately failed to achieve anywhere near the level of form expected of him.

Latest reports by Portuguese news outlet A Bola suggest the midfielder could soon be leaving this summer, with Primeira Liga giants Porto interested in his signature. That's certainly a move that could interest the Spurs faithful after his most recent performance.

Here is how the club's fans reacted to the Argentine's miserable display on Twitter:
