In contrast, only three players have joined the club and with the season underway, many supporters and pundits alike feel Spurs are short in the middle and final third of the pitch.
With just over three weeks of the transfer window remaining, boss Mauricio Pochettino needs new additions and the latest reports claim the club are finally in a position to go out a make a big-money splash.
“Tottenham are ready to open the bidding in their pursuit of Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie. After agreeing to sell flop striker Roberto Soldado to Spanish side Villarreal on Friday, the north Londoners are now ready to make their move,” the Mirror state.
Bolasie has long been linked with a move to Spurs, with a previous report in the Mirror stating that the Congo international winger is keen on joining Palace’s London rivals.
However, his asking price has so far been set at a staggering £25 million as Eagles boss Alan Pardew has mentioned on more than one occasion his desire to keep hold of the winger.
With Spurs so short on options in the final third, they need to make at least one attacking signing before the transfer deadline and Bolasie is a player which will give them something they currently lack.
Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen, Mousa Dembele and Nacer Chadli bring their own qualities to the table yet evidently, none specialise in dribbling and powerful running unlike Palace’s star man.
