Jamie Redknapp is predicting plenty of goals on Monday as he sees Liverpool running out 3-1 winners over Bournemouth with both sides opting for an attacking approach, Sky Sports reports.
At Anfield, the onus will be on Brendan Rodgers’ men to attack the Cherries and the Reds boss may opt to start new signing Roberto Firmino in order to add an extra bit of verve.
Eddie Howe’s side began their campaign with a narrow defeat at home to Aston Villa but they will not change their attacking principles, prompting Redknapp to predict goals and a home win.
“Bournemouth will maintain their passing approach, which should allow Liverpool to express themselves, with the confidence they’ve taken from the Stoke win,” Reddknapp explained.
“It will be a great occasion for Bournemouth – but I can see Liverpool winning 3-1.”
With the way both teams are expected to set up, it would not be surprising to see more than four goals on Monday night as both teams are capable of ramping it up.
Last season, Bournemouth won a number of high-scoring away games including an 8-0 victory at Birmingham, a 5-1 FA Cup win at Rotherham and a 4-0 opening day win at Huddersfield Town.
Players such as Matt Ritchie, Callum Wilson and Max Gradel boast plenty of ability in the final third; therefore the Reds’ defence will have to be on the guard for the full 90 minutes.
