Report: Arsenal are the mystery English club hijacking Tottenham's Clinton N'Jie deal

The North London rivals are reportedly in the hunt for the Cameroon striker.

Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas yesterday stated that Tottenham Hotspur’s deal to sign Lyon attacker Clinton N’Jie was not yet done.

Spurs have agreed a fee with the player and the Cameroonian headed over to England for talks earlier in the week.

It looked as though the deal was done, however, Aulas stated yesterday, as reported by the London Evening Standard:

“The deal for Clinton N'Jie isn't completed. A proposition from another fashionable English club has complicated things.”

So who is the mystery English club who have N’Jie stalling? According to reports in France it could not be any team worse.

It is reported by French publication Le Progres that the team in question is big rivals Arsenal. The paper is a local paper from Lyon, so know their stuff on all things Olympique Lyonnais, which gives some credence to these sensational claims.

It was reported earlier in the week that Tottenham had agreed a £12 million deal for the player, who even confirmed the move on his Instagram page.

But so far no deal has gone ahead and that caused concern over the deal.

Tottenham are desperate for a pacey attacker to add to their striking positions but Arsenal would probably not be keen on this signing, as they want a bigger name striker to fill their striking department.

However, if it meant stopping Tottenham getting hold of their number-one target, than Arsenal fans might just have him.
