United’s goalkeeping issue has come to the fore in recent weeks as David de Gea has sat out the last two matches with the possibly of a switch to Real Madrid lingering on.
France international number one Lloris has been sounded out as a potential replacement for the Spaniard, with a potential move to Old Trafford cited in a number of media outlets, such as the Mirror.
However, Pochettino has revealed that regardless of United’s situation, Lloris will remain at White Hart Lane beyond the summer of the shot-stopper spoke of his desire to stay at the club.
“There are a lot of rumours. Hugo is very happy to be here. His commitment with the club is high. We need to be happy because if United want Lloris, it’s because he’s a great goalkeeper.
“But Hugo has a contract here and he is happy here, and he wants success here. Hugo is keen, one day, to play in the Champions League with Tottenham. That is his dream. It’s our dream.”
Plans afoot for the rest of the transfer window
With Lloris’s immediate future clear enough and Spurs’ squad trimmed heavily this summer, the club’s entire focus can now go into bringing in new players for the remainder of the transfer window.
Pochettino needs new additions in the middle and final third or they can forget about challenging for a Champions League place this season.
However, if they can make the right signings in the right areas, there will be a real fresh look about Spurs’ squad with a number of players at the right age ready to take the club to that next level.
